Controversial Minister Mervyn Silva today challenged those who allege him of frauds asking them to prove them.

Minister Silva told a news conference today that he is prepared to face any probe that may be conducted against him. He was referring to the request made by the Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Prasanna Ranaweera on Sunday.

The Minister said that he too has allegations against the Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Prasanna Ranaweera whom he alleged of giving all contracts of the Pradeshiya Sabha to companies run by his relatives. He also alleged that the Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman is currently building a house on state land.

He also sent warning signals to the Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman stating that the latter will have to seek divine intervention to escape from him if he (the Minister) is provoked.

Responding to reports on the abduction of one of his secretaries, he said he does not have a secretary. However he said one of his close associates went missing and was later found.

Mr. Ranaweera who commenting on these allegations said the Minister should go ahead and prove them without uttering. He said it is the Minister who had built a house on state property.

Mr. Ranaweera said the commissioner of local government is always welcome to probe the tender procedures any time if he is violating any procedures. (Yohan Perera)
