The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) says it is still investigating the whereabouts of Sicille Kotalawala, wife of businessman Lalith Kotalawala, who is wanted over a fraud case.

Mrs. Kotalawala, who is on the Interpol red list, is wanted for her involvement in the alleged financial scam involving her husband and an arrest warrant had also been issued.

CID sources told Daily Mirror online that they were in constant touch with Interpol and investigations into Mrs. Kotelawala’s whereabouts were continuing. “Siscille Kotalawala is on the Interpol’s red list so we will continue to investigate her whereabouts. We are also in touch with Interpol,” CID sources said.

The CID is looking at arresting Sicille Kotelawala as one of the main suspects in the Rs 26 billion Golden Key credit card fraud with the help of Interpol.

The Mount Lavinia Magistrate had late last year issued a warrant for her arrest. Court also ordered the controller of immigration and emigration to place Sicille Kotelawala under arrest the moment she enters the country as her lawyers had informed Court that she was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Singapore but did not disclose the nature of the illness nor produce medical certificates.

Mrs. Kotelawala’s whereabouts since then have not been disclosed.
