High class gambling den raided again

Nine people were arrested by the police when a high class gambling den run at Union Place, near the Town Hall was raided again yesterday evening.

The Slave Island Police Anti Corruption Unit said among those arrested was the manager of the gambling den which was closed after the police anti-crimes unit raided it on November 4.

Among the others  taken into custody were businessmen and high ranking government sector officers.

The manager of the club and forty five others who were engaged in gambling were arrested.

Police later received information that it had resumed functions again on November 17. (Indika Ramanayake)
