Hacking of govt. website: SL accuses LTTE rump

While claiming that hacking of the ministry of media and information's website as an act of ‘cyber terrorism,’ the government today accused the LTTE rump living overseas for the hacking of the website.

Secretary to the Ministry of Media Charitha Herath told state owned radio, “We see this as an act of cyber terrorism.”

He also said that ‘the timing was significant as Lanka's alleged rights atrocities was coming under the focus of the UN Human Rights Council's ongoing sessions which kicked off in Geneva yesterday.’

“They operate on various fronts, this is (cyber) just one of them," he added.

The ministry’s website media.gov.lk was hacked on Sunday and uploaded a link showing some atrocities during the final stages of Sri Lanka's conflict against Tamil Tigers in 2009.

Hackers had left a message "Stop Killing Innocent Tamil Ppl! Or Get prepared 4 Attacks From Us!" on the website.
