Govt. docs on token strike tomorrow

24 October 2012 09:24 am

The Government doctors will launch a 24-hour countrywide strike from 8am tomorrow, the GMOA announced today.

It said hospital services including the OPD units and other services would not function but emergency services would continue as usual.

GMOA sources said the strike was launched because the government had failed to increase the basic salaries and special allowances of doctors and had not provided a special transport allowance enjoyed by other state sector employees. (Olindhi Jayasundere)
