UNP media spokesman Gayantha Karunatilka today charged that the government had allowed Selvarasa Pathmanathan alias KP who was involved in the international arms racket to start a NGO with government backing and going against the aspirations of the people and the armed forces.

“Government promised to take action against KP under criminal law when he was arrested by our army intelligence. But now the government is not doing what it promised and what is expected by the people and the armed forces. Instead the government is bottle feeding this terrorist leader who is wanted even by India and by allowing him to initiate an NGO in Kilinochchi breeching the law of the country.”

Referring to 13th amendment he said the government had begun to act a drama to evade the burning issues in the country. “Only a few political factions who are backing the government are shouting against the 13th amendment while enjoying the benefits offered from it. I challenge that if they are really patriot and people friendly, they should protest against the sky rocketing cost of living as well,” Mr.Karunatileke said. (Ajith Siriwardana)
