Govt. asked for it: JVP

The JVP yesterday charged that it was the government which paved the way for the US and the West to bring in a resolution against Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council today.

JVP Parliamentary Group Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake told journalists that it is the Sri Lankan government that should take the blame for the situation which the country faced today.

Mr. Dissanayake said the government had failed to come up with some mechanism to probe the killings and disappearances and internal displacements during the war. He recalled that the government ended up throwing the proposals on establishing national reconciliation just after the war. “The government wasted time building up the images of its top officials without implementing an effective mechanism for reconciliation,” he said.
