Gampola UC secretary assaulted

The secretary of the Gampola Urban Council was assaulted by an unidentified gang who came in trishaws today, police said.  Eleven Public Heath Inspectors who were on inspection at the moment also came under their assault. The incident occurred when they were inspecting the progress of a recycling project in Pussathenna Watte, Gampola.

The injured are receiving treatment at the Gampola General Hospital. Police are conducting inquiries. (Suranga Rajanayaka)
