Four police officers interdicted

Police Chief N.K.Illangakoon has interdicted four police officers of the Anuradhapura Police station over neglecting inquiries into a rape of a 13 year old girl in Anuradhapura on January 12 this year, the police said.

Accordingly, former HQI of the Anuradhapura police, Officers in Charge of the Crime Branch and the Minor Complaints Branch, and a Woman Sub Inspector who functioned as Actg. OIC of the Women and Children’s Unit Anuradhapura Police have been interdicted.

Police said the officers concerned will be issued with charge sheets and a formal disciplinary inquiry would be held against them. (Athula Bandara)
