Four dead, 21,000 affected by inclement weather

Four person were reportedly killed and more than 21,000 persons were affected due to the inclement weather affecting most part of the island, the Disaster Management Center told Daily Mirror online

Two hundred and twenty seven houses were partial damaged due to the heavy rain and floods that affected the Ratnapura District. 

Speaking to Daily Mirror online the Meteorological Department stated that showers were expected in the Western and Sabaragamuwa Provinces and Galle and Matara Districts during the afternoon and evening hours. It was also noted that an improvement was seen in the lower atmosphere affecting Sri Lanka compared to the last few weeks.

Occasional showers are also expected in other parts of the island. Thunder shower are likely to affect the South Eastern and Eastern Coastline of Sri Lanka, the Met Department said. 

The Meteorological Department advised the public to take the necessary precautions from lighnting which may occur during these thunder showers. (Daily Mirror online)
