Fmr Weligama PS member remanded

A former Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha member alleged to have shot and wounded two men during a clash on New Year day in the Kamburugamuwa Garaduwa area was remanded till April 28 by Matara Acting Magistrate Upali Ranasinghe

This shooting had taken place when the former PS member Vidanagamaachchige  Wimal was assaulted by a group of young men who had been under the influence of liquor and behaving rudely.

A bystander was among the injured admitted to the National Hospital and Matara hospital.

Police have taken into custody the gun and used bullets allegedly used by the suspect.

The Magistrate ordered prison officers to arrange to have medical treatment for the former PS member who also sustained injuries in the clash. (Krishan Jeewaka Jayaruk)
