A woman from an affluent family in the Kohuwala area who eloped with a young man from Deniyaya returned to her parental home when she found that the young man was not in a position to provide her with the comforts she enjoyed earlier.

The 19 year old young woman who was the only child of a billionaire businessman and heir to a large estate fell in love with a security guard employed at a business establishment and eloped with him on June 13, 2010 and lived at his house at Mederipitiya in Deniyaya after marriage. However, before long she realized that the young man was not in a position to provide her with the luxuries she was accustomed to have.

Meanwhile her parents had made a complaint to Deniyaya Police against the young man. When the parties appeared before OIC Deniyaya Police, the young woman wanted to leave her husband and return to her parents.

Inquiries revealed that the young woman spent more than Rs.35,000 a month on clothes and cosmetics. Without the least concern for her husband’s pleadings not to leave and threat of suicide if she does, she climbed into her parents’ super luxury car and disappeared from the scene.
