Fonseka pledges to convert Palaly in polls manifesto

Presidential Candidate General Sarath Fonseka’s is expected to make public his election manifesto on Thursday and will include a pledge to convert the Palaly domestic airport into an international airport if he is elected President. The manifesto will also assure the removal of the high security zones in Jaffna, sources told Daily Mirror online.

Meanwhile General Sarath Fonseka’s security personnel were arrested by the police yesterday (Saturday) whle on their way to Vavuniya from Jaffna. According to sources in the General’s office, Army Personnel within the General’s security contingent were arrested by the police while they were traveling in a bus from Jaffna to secure an area in Vavuniya for an election rally expected to be held Sunday

The soldiers were checked by the Police for illegal weapons while being held in custody. They were however later released. Sources at the General’s office told Daily Mirror online that the delay in the soldiers arriving in Vavuniya would jeopardize the rally and was a threat to the life of the General.
