Fonseka issue to be raised with IPO

The UNP is to take up the issue of the imprisonment of DNA Leader Sarath Fonseka and the loss of  his Parliamentary seat with the Human Rights Council of the International Parliamentary Organization (IPO) which is scheduled to meet on April 15. 

UNP Deputy General Secretary Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena said Mr. Fonseka’s rights have been violated as he was deprived of his parliamentary seat because of the jail sentence after he was convicted at the court martial

The UNP MP said Human Rights Council of IPO is expected discuss the issue regarding  DNA Leader Fonseka further on April 15. The matter was originally taken up by the IPO in November last year. (Yohan Perera)
