Floods claim 32 lives, 49 injured

Thirty two deaths were reported, 49 persons were injured and 12 persons are reported missing due to the floods and rain affecting the country. More than 1,056,255 persons belonging to 282,953 families have been affected due to floods and heavy rain in Ampara, Batticaloa, Trincomalee , Vavuniya and several other districts in the Central, North and East. More than 339,200 are currently housed in displaced camps, the Disaster Management Center said.
 
87899 families have been sheltered in camps in Batticaloa, Trincomalee and Kilinochchi and other Districts. 584 camps located in these districts are providing relief supplies to those affected by floods and rain.

More than 3737 houses were fully damaged and 19,356 were partially damaged due to floods in these Districts. (Daily Mirror online)
