Flood situation again

Reservoirs in the Polonnaruwa District have reached spill level due to heavy rains experienced in these areas, Irrigation Department officials said.

They further said that two spill gates of the Parakrama Samudra have been opened because the reservoirs have reached spill level due to the heavy rains experienced.

Spill gates of the Manakattiya Reservoir and Rajangana Reservoir in the Anuradhapura District, Unnichchai Reservoir in Batticaloa and other Reservoirs in Badulla, Moneragala, Hambantota, Batticaloa and Trincomalee Districts have been opened as these had reached spill level, the director confirmed.
