Flood affected areas getting better

The flood situation that was prevailing in the country has improved and most of the roads in the East and Northern parts of the country are free of inundation, the Disaster Management Center said

The Disaster Management Center further noted “There is no danger in visiting any parts of Eastern or North Central of Sri Lanka. Roads are clear of inundation. Sunny weather is prevailing now; the center said assuring that the fears exiting earlier had been eased off.

A report from the DMC said there were only 80 displaced camps that were remaining as of today and that 4,493 families were being sheltered in those camps. A total number of 5594 houses were completely destroyed while 22, 483 were partly damaged. The total number of deaths due to the floods were reported at 43 while 51 were injured. (Yohan Perera)
