With most of the country experiencing what seems to be a rise in temperature, the Meteorological Department today stated that the discomfort being felt in the country was not due to an increase in temperature, but due to the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere increasing.

A Meteorological Department official added that this was most prevalent in the South East part of the islands with winds traveling over the sea saturating the air over land with water vapor due to the upcoming South East monsoon season.

Moreover the thunder showers were expected in some areas this afternoon and evening while it was noted that frequent rains experienced earlier had subsided. (Daily Mirror online)
