Fear psychosis in North

4 January 2011 10:48 am

A fear psychosis is present in the North and crime rate is rising in Jaffna, Minister Douglas Devananda informed Parliament today.

Thereafter Opposition UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe asked Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa to take steps to send an All Party Delegation to assess the situation in Jaffna.

Mr. Wickremesinghe made this request soon after Minister Douglas Devananda raised concern about the rising crime wave in Jaffna.

The Opposition Leader said this was a serious development and demanded that a full-day debate be conducted in the House in this regard. He said he would take up the matter at the party leaders’ meeting. (KB/YP)
