Expired sausages at Five Star Hotel

The Maligakanda Magistrate has imposed a penalty of Rs.4,000 to the Director of a five star hotel in Colombo after he was found guilty of keeping two varieties of sausages in storage, unfit for human consumption.

He was charged separately for two kinds of sausages at Rs.2,000.
It is reported from the courts that these sausages were found in a refrigerator when Colombo Municipal Council Food Inspector M.D. Lal Kumara with some officers surrounded the Hotel.

Food Inspector Lal Kumara is conducting inquiries on the instructions of Colombo Municipal Council Chief Health Medical Officer Pradeep Kariyawasam. (By Indika Ramanayake)
