The Ambassador to Rome Asitha Perera has been recalled to the island in the middle of serving his tenure as the head of the Lankan missions in Italy.
Mr. Perera had told reporters that he had received his letter of recall today.

Earlier some Sri Lankans had protested opposite the embassy against the Ambassador. However, commenting on the recall, Perera said that he always “stood straight and did not relent to pressure exerted by smugglers.”
