Audio: Enjoining order on UNP

The Mount Lavinia District Court today issued an enjoining order restraining the UNP from acting on the constitutional amendment, which states that elections for the party leadership should be held every six years, UNP Provincial Councillor Maithree Gunaratne said.

District Court Judge Priyantha Fenrando issued noticed on all working committee members to be presentin courts on August 22 and show cause why this amendment to the UNP constitution was introduced.

Maithree Gunaratne and two other lawyers filed a petition in the Mount Lavinia District Court seeking an order to annul the amendment to the party constitution and declare it null and void.
