Sri Lanka said British Prime Minister David Cameron had probably highlighted alleged human right violations in Sri Lanka in anticipation of the British elections in 2015.

"Why did he raise these issues on a public platform? because he has domestic political considerations as he is in a coalition government and elections are due in 2015. There is also a significant diaspora in Britain,” Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner Dr. Chris Nonis said at an interview with BBC World News – Global on Thursday.
