Dutch courage helps worker break door

A minor employee of the Government Analyst Department who broke a door of his office behaving in an unruly manner after consuming alcohol was remanded until October 31 by the Chief Magistrate of Colombo.

The suspect was produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate Rashmi Singappuli by the Cinnamon Gardens Police.

According to the police the suspect, a minor employee of the Government Analyst Department had consumed some intoxicating drink that was kept at the Department for Examinations.

The police said the suspect was arrested by the Cinnamon Gardens police patrol division after a phone call was given to them by the Analyst Department alleging that the suspect after consuming the unidentified substance had behaved in an unruly manner and broken a door of the department.

The Police said investigations are being conducted and the substance has been sent for analysis. (T. Farook Thajudeen)
