Duminda’s bodyguards granted bail

Duminda Silva’s official bodyguard and two other personal bodyguards in remand on charges of being involved in the killing of Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra were released on bail by the Colombo High Court today.

Ministerial Security Division (MSD) personnel Vithanalage Anura Thushara De Mel who was detailed to Parliamentarian Duminda Silva and two of his personal bodyguards -- Sarath Bandara and W. Amila were granted bail by Colombo High Court Judge Lalith Jayasuriya while the third accused Chaminda Ravi Jayanath was remanded for another three months when the matter for bail would be taken up.

The postponement was based on the past history of the accused after it was brought to the attention of the Judge by State Counsel Lakmini Girihagama.  
The accused was asked to hand over their passports to the custody of the Court Registrar and their foreign travel was restrained.(T. Farook Thajudeen)
