Duminda under strict observation: Hospital

Parliamentarian Duminda Silva continues to be on a life support system at the Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital following a surgery on Saturday evening to remove two bullets from his head.

One bullet was removed and the other is yet to be removed as it had penetrated deep into his skull. The surgery was concluded around 9pm on Saturday and he was placed under observation at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Speaking about the parliamentarian’s situation Sri Jayawardenepura Hospital Director Dr. Shavendra Gamage said his condition was stable and they were satisfied about his situation following the surgery. “The neurosurgeon is visiting him throughout as part of the process in ascertaining his situation and improvement,” Dr. Gamage said.

Hospital sources further said they could arrive at a final conclusion on the parliamentarian’s condition only 48 hours after the surgery. (Supun Dias)
