EPDP leader Minister Douglas Devananda said today that he asked for a full police inquiry into the killing of one his party members in Point Pedro, Jaffna on Saturday.

Mr. Devananda who is the Minister of Small Industries and Enterprise Development said that his party member had been killed when he was on his way after a meeting on the road construction work in the area.

“I assigned him to attend that meeting. I cannot say what has happened actually. I have now asked for a full police inquiry,” the Minister said.

This was the first killing of an EPDP member in the post war period. During the time of the LTTE, there were many killings of EPPD activists both in and outside the North and the East. (KB)
