United National Party (UNP) today requested the people not to vote for any other small party if they are fed up with the ruling party as the UNP is the only alternative for it.

UNP seniors who were speaking at the launch of its manifesto requested the people not to vote for any small party  stressing that it will create a favorable situation for the ruling UPFA.

UNP National Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe said UNP is the only alternative to this government as it has a good track record of governing this country. He recalled that the development work was carried out by able public servants during the previous UNP regimes in a professional manner while the people were able to earn monthly revenue in line with the cost of living condition unlike today.

Mr. Wickremesinghe said this year’s provincial council election is the second step of a program of work adopted by the UNP. He said the first step was establishing a leadership council and the second step is this provincial council election which should be used to send a strong message to the government. The third step he said is the Jana Bala Mehevuma which will be held at the end of the year to force the government to hold a national election. (Yohan Perera and Chaturanga Pradeep)
