Don’t make statements that distract investigations: Ranil

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today stressed the need to refrain from making statements which deter the investigations into fraud and corruption and the establishing of good governance.

The President and Prime Minister had directed the authorities to conduct investigations into the activities of Avant Garde Maritime Service (Pvt) Ltd impartially and independently and arrest those found guilty of any misdeeds.

Mr. Wickremesinghe pointed out that people who were keen to establish a new political culture in the country were looking forward to the eradication of corruption and fraud and punish those responsible for such activities if found guilty.

Mr.Wickremesinghe said he inquired from Justice Minister Wijedasa Rajapakshe about Avant Garde Chairman’s passport after several questions were raised on this matter at a discussion recently
