The JVP dissidents had taken away a collection of CDs that contained valuable information   about the party, and deleted the template of the party’s official newspaper ‘Niyamuwa’, MP Sunil Handunnetti said today.

Mr. Handunnetti told journalists that a person who was attached to the media unit had done this when he sided with the dissidents whom he referred to as factionalists.

“We had a collection of CDs. All of them had been taken away by this person. He had also deleted the template of the ‘Niyamuwa’ paper from the computer,” Mr. Handunnetti said.

Also, he said that this person had taken the portrait of Karl Marks kept in the party’s headquarters.

“The frame of this portrait was broken a few months ago. This person had later on taken it to be repaired. By that time, this split had occurred, and he had defected from the party.  He never returned the portrait to the party,” the JVP MP said. (Kelum Bandara)
