Dinithi Aloka Ranasinghe -- the student alleged to have been abducted and held in custody by Minister Rajitha Senaratne’s son Eksath -- has been prevented from travelling abroad on an order by Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya.

The Magistrate had made this order sequent to a plea submitted by her parents on the basis that plans were being made to send their daughter abroad in a sureptious manner.

Among the 14 respondents cited by the girl’s parents were Minister Rajitha Senaratne and his family members in the Habeas Corpus petition filed by Attorney Asoka Weerasuriya which was taken up for hearing yesterday.

He told Court that his clients had received information that their daughter Dinithi Aloka Ranasinghe who had been taken away forcibly by Eksath Senaratne is to be sent abroad and sought an interim order from court to preventing her from leaving the country.

The Magistrate also directed that the Controller of Immigration and Emigration be informed accordingly. (Manopriya Gunasekera)
