The Colombo Fort Magistrate today ordered to release and acquit Dhanuna Tillekeratne's 82-year-old grand-mother from the case in which she had been charged with harbouring an offender by providing accommodation to her grandson Dhanuna, who is former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka’s son-in-law.

Magistrate Thilina Gamage also observed that the prosecution had not proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.

The Magistrate maintained that the charges against the accused couldn’t be maintained in accordance with the section 209 of the Penal Code since the harbouring charge only could be maintained if she harboured an offender but not to a suspect. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)
