The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has issued a two week deadline for those who have erected illegal hoardings throughout Colombo city to remove them
, CMC Special Commissioner Omar Kamil told Daily Mirror online.

Kamil added that the removing of illegal hoardings was in line with moves to make Colombo city a more clean and picturesque city in the island and that most of these hoardings did not have the approval of the CMC or were erected in places that hoardings should not be put up in.

He further added that all hoardings facing public roads that are erected on private or public property, without the approval of the CMC had to be removed.

Last year the Supreme Court had directed the CMC to remove all illegal hoardings and to regularize the manner in which they were put up, he said. (Daily Mirror online)
