Ministers Dayasiri Jayasekera and Akila Viraj Kariyawasam who were at loggerheads with each other since the days they were in the United National Party (UNP) had ironed out their differences, political sources said.

According to sources, the duo had made up with each other following a request made by President Maithripala Sirisena.

Both were seen attending a ceremony at Maliyadewa MV together with President Sirisena on Friday December 4, 2015.

President Sirisena had remarked at this ceremony that he had decided to bring the two Ministers together stating it is not worth fighting with each other over petty things.

It was also reported that MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage who had heard this situation had remarked saying, “ Dayasirita Deyange Pihitai( May God protect Dayasiri) Mr Kariyawasam who had responded saying that he and Mr. Jayasekera will look into that ( Api Eka Balagannam). Mr Jayasekera had also responded to Mr Aluthgamage saying, “ You are good at making up stories. Mr. Kariyawasam and I will work together in developing sports and education,” he had reportedly told Mr. Aluthgamage. (YP)
