The man who claimed to have had a romantic relationship with popular Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai had reportedly told his counsel that the mental distress he experienced following the actress’s marriage to Indian actor Abhishek Bachchan would be relieved if he received an opportunity to meet the Indian actress.

The complainant Niroshan Devapriya, currently residing in Taiwan has reportedly telephoned his lawyer Lanka Pradeepika and stated that all his issues including his mental distress would be eased if he got an opportunity to meet the celebrity.

Devapriya had made a complaint to the Colombo Fraud Investigations Bureau (CFIB) alleging that his nephew had swindled him of Rs.1.7 million after promising him to file a lawsuit against popular Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai, claiming damages for the mental distress he underwent following the actress’s marriage to the Indian actor.

Meanwhile, the suspect Roshan Ajith of Panadura yesterday paid Rs.20,000 as a monthly instalment to the complainant party before Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage who ordered the money to be deposited under Court custody, since the complainant was currently out of the country.

In this case, the complainant further stated that he had discussed the matter with his nephew Roshan Ajith, who had undertaken to hire a lawyer and go ahead with the lawsuit. He said his nephew had demanded a sum of Rs.1.7 million for the entire legal process which he had accordingly paid. However, the complainant alleged that the suspect had cheated him of the Rs.1.7 million as he had not taken any steps toward the legal process.
The suspect is currently out on bail. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)
