Crowds throng for Deyata Kirula

Anuradhapura was a sea of heads with large numbers of people gathering at the Oyamaduwa village in Thanthirimale to witness the Deyata Kirula mega exhibition.

The annual national exhibition is being held for the sixth year running. This years exhibition is said to be the largest out of the Deyata Kirula series held in an area spanning over 600 acres in Oyamaduwa.

The infrastructure in the surrounding villages and towns are to be developed concurrently with over Rs.30,000 million being allocated for road development projects in the area. The Ministry of Finance and Planning will initiate ten permanent buildings to be erected in the area with the vision of enhancing development in the area where the exhibition is held.

Concurrent to ‘Deyata Kirula’ 56 major rural electrification projects and 130 electricity extensions have been initiated at a cost of Rs.700 million for the benefit of more than 6,000 families in Oyamaduwa in the Villachchiya Division of the Anuradhapura District.

Over a thousand stalls including all ministries and departments that come within the purview of the government will be on display at the mega event. The exhibition will be held till February 10. Wijeya Newspapers Limited are the media sponsors of the event. (Hafeel Farisz and Pradeep Pathirana)
