Court to hear Anoma's case

The Habeas Corpus application filed to the Court of Appeal by Anoma Fonseka was fixed to be taken up before a three judge bench on March 19.

Habeas Corpus application was filed on Thursday before the Court of Appeal seeking the Court to direct the Army Commander, Army Provost Marshal and Navy Commander to produce Gen. (Rtd) Sarath Fonseka to the Court to be dealt with according to law and to discharge him.

Gen. Fonseka’s wife Mrs. Anoma filed this application through Paul Ratnayake Associates citing Gen. Fonseka, Army Commander Lt. Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya, Army Provost Marshall Brig. E.K.J.K.Wijayasiri, Navy Commander Vice Admiral T.S.G.Samarasinghe and the Attorney General as Respondents.

Mrs. Fonseka said that Gen. Fonseka was not a person subject to military law at the time when he was taken into custody and that he ceased to be person subject to military law on or about July 15, 2009. (SSS)
