The Nugegoda Magistrate's Court today ordered four banks to provide details to the CID of the dishonored cheques that were issued by the Sakvithi Group of Companies to its depositors.

Nugegoda Magistrate Anura Kumara Herath made this order to the managers of   the Nugegoda Branches of Bank of Ceylon, Sampath Bank, Nation's Trust Bank and Hatton National Bank.

The Banks were ordered to provide details to the CID about the cheques issued by the Sakvithi Group of Companies and from the accounts of his staff to the depositors.

The CID complained to the magistrate that the cheques were dishonored by the concerned banks when produced for encashment by the depositors.

The CID said they want to get the details in order to assert the amount defrauded by the fraudster and his accomplices. (Daily Mirror online)
