11 February 2011 12:56 pm

Colombo High Court today re-called the warrant issued for the arrest of Traditional and Small Enterprises Minister Douglas Devananda.
Minister Douglas Devananda today surrendered before court through his Counsels.

The Counsel asked Judge W.M.P.B. Warawewa to recall the warrant issued against the minister. The counsel submitted that the minister was a prosecution witness and the warrant had been issued by the court for the failure of the minister to be present in court to give evidence in a case for the attempted killing of the witness at his office at Kollupitiya in March 2004.

On considering the submissions, High Court Judge W.M.P.B. Warawewa recalled the warrant and ordered Minister Douglas Devananda to appear before court on May 26.

The Court on  February 7, 2011 issued the warrant for the  arrest of Minister Devananda when he failed to appear in court to give evidence for the prosecution in a case in which  an LTTE cadre Selvakumari Satya Leela alias Satya was accused of having aided and  abetted with a LTTE cadre Thiagaraja Jeyarani to kill Devananda and in the same attempt for the killing of  Don Herbert Attygalle and Kastri Bangalage during the period March 1, 2004 to  June 6, 2004 at the Ministry of Devananda at  Kollupitiya.
