COPE report to be presented today

The 310-page report of the parliament watchdog the Committee On Public Enterprises (COPE) will be handed over to speaker Chamal Rajapaksa today, COPE Chairman and Senior Minister D.E.W. Gunasekara said.

He said the Committee had made 20 recommendations after examining the accounts of 247 State institutions.

The report will be the second report to be presented and has listed detailed descriptions of 16 loss-making government institutions.

Among the main institutions that have come under the scrutiny of the 31-member parliament committee are the cash-strapped Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), SriLankan airlines and budget airlines Mihin Air. (Hafeel Farisz)
