The Police Headquarters said that there were a large number of complaints from the public against the Police emergency hotline -119- claiming that the line was busy most of the time.

Police spokesman Ajith Rohana said “ The public have been complaining that the line is always engaged and sometimes that the police arrive to the scene several hours later or they do not come at all.”

He said that in order to rectify these difficulties, the Police headquarters has decided to expand the service.

Accordingly, Police Chief N.K Illangakone will open new facilities and infrastructure built to expand police 119 services tomorrow. (By Supun Dias)
