Collapsing economy and manipulation led to fall of CSE: UNP

Dismissing the allegations made by the government and some so called investors that the complains made by the opposition MPs had lead to the collapse of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), the main opposition UNP said today that it had crashed due to the collapse of the economy and manipulation by certain forces backed by the ruling party.

UNP Senior Vice President Lakshman Kiriella told a news conference today that the collapse of the stock market had nothing to do with the investigations carried out by the Securities and Exchange Commission. He made this point with regard to the reports which said the investigations carried out by the by Securities and Exchange Commission on manipulation following the complaints made by the opposition had lead to a fear psychosis.
