At least 8 people were injured and 3 houses damaged following a clash between two groups over prawns in Marawila last night. The two groups had reportedly been unhappy with each other over the catch. Of the injured, 5 were admitted to the Negombo hospital and 3 in the Marawila hospital.
One group had later gone and damaged houses belonging to the opposite side and this resulted in the other party retaliating.
The Marawila police are investigating the incident. (Daily Mirror online)
