CID to seek Interpol assistance

The CID informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate that they would seek the assistance of the Interpol to record the statement from the businessman who exported the jewellery  stolen from, 'Vorikas Jewellers' -Athens Greece, to  Sri Lanka in a container

 When the case was taken up for inquiry today before Colombo Chief Magistrate Rashmi Singappuli Counsel Nalinda Indatissa, Werasena Ranahewa and Deepika Hettimulla appearing for the suspects moved to grant bail to the suspect as the investigations were already over.

Accordingly the Magistrate remanded the suspects till July 9.

The complainant alleged that the first suspect Upul Perera alias Janaka Weerasinghe who was the security guard in charge of the keys of the safe if the establishment had stolen the jewellery and thereafter concealed them inside electronic goods and sent to Sri Lanka. (T.F.T)
