CHOGM protest: 45 arrested in Tamil Nadu

As many 45 persons belonging to different pro-Tamil outfits were on Monday arrested for attempting to picket trains and bus-stand in nearby Tirupur and Udhagamandalam, demanding that India should not participate in the CHOGM scheduled in Sri Lanka this month.

Twelve workers of Adi Tamilar Katchi attempted to barge into the Tirupur Railway Station but were prevented by police, before they could reach the track, police said.

Similarly 15 activists of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi were arrested, when they attempted to stage rail roko, while 18 workers of Naam Tamizhar Katchi workers were arrested for attempting to stage picketing near Charing Cross in Udhgamandalam, police said. (PTI)
