Jaffna explosion kills two

An unidentified explosion killed two people who were among the refugees resettled in Chavakacheri, near a Hindu Temple in the Jaffna peninsula, the police media unit said.

According to the police the two people were clearing the land in the area together with 30 others and had set fire to some dirt when the explosion occurred.

The police have yet to determine what caused the explosion. A post mortem on the victims will be carried out later today.
