Case of sexual abuse: German woman identifies suspect

The 25 year-old German woman, who was allegedly sexually abused by a young businessman recently, identified the suspect at an identification parade held at Colombo Magistrate’s Court today.

The suspect was remanded until April 4 by Colombo Additional Magistrate A. Mohammed Shabdeen.

The German woman, who was allegedly under the influence of liquor at a nightclub in a star class hotel in Colombo, had allegedly been taken to a house in Bambalapitiya and abused by the suspect on March 23.

When she woke up in the morning she had found that she was unclothed. Later she had been dropped off by the suspect at a housing complex in Mount Lavinia where some of her friends were staying.

The German woman was in the country to follow a course in English at the University of Colombo and staying with four other young Germans at a housing complex in Mt. Lavinia. (Ileshan Amarasinghe)
