Candidates launch Radio channels

Election monitors have lodged a complaint with the Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayaka stating that three Radio channels have been launched in the East to carry out the propaganda activities of candidates contesting the General elections, violating election laws.

According to the complaint the Election monitors alleged that two of the Radio channels, Kattankudi FM and Hisbulla FM are already operating 24 hours of the day carrying out the election propaganda of two candidates while another one is carrying out test transmissions.

According to the complaint the three Radio channels, which broadcast in the Batticaloa district, have also been launched violating existing regulations of the Telecom Regulatory Commission. (Daily Mirror online)
