Call to sue lanka, author of scurrilous write-up

The AIADMK on Sunday sought legal action against those responsible for the publication of the controversial article on the Sri Lankan government website recently. Representatives of the party’s legal wing met DGP K Ramanujam and sought action under Section 66A of the Information Technology Act.

AIADMK legal wing secretary A Navaneethakrishnan presented the petition seeking action to the DGP. “We have sought legal action against the journalist who wrote the piece as well as the Sri Lankan government officials responsible for putting it up on the website,” he told Express.

“Under the IT Act, there are no international boundaries, and we have called for action against those involved in this inappropriate and annoyance of an article,”  Navaneethakrishnan added, saying the DGP has promised to take appropriate action.

Roads to lanka mission closed

Chennai: With the fury over the defamatory article continuing unabated, the Chennai police closed traffic on the entry points to the Sri Lankan deputy high commission from midnight to 6 am to prevent any untoward action. On Monday morning, representatives from the film industry will stage a protest over the issue. (Indian Express)
