UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe said today the ‘Cabraal missile’ had struck again with the increase in the prices of gas and milk powder though a parallel increase in people’s wages had not taken place.

“Milk prices went up today, gas goes up today. Who knows where this missile will end up? Things are going to get more and more difficult,” Mr. Wickremesinghe said.

He said people including estate workers, farmers, fishermen and labourers needed urgent relief and that their needs should be met by the government.

“We want to remind the regime of the jungle law and that these need to be met,” he said.

Mr. Wickremesinghe said that apart from the need for higher wages, national unity and a political solution to the national question were essential and that the people needed an equal share in decision making on behalf of the country. (Olindhi Jayasundere)
